Larry,
My interpretation is that it's on the top of the shoulder rail. This
is to keep the top hoop from tearing off of the shoulder rail if the car gets
inverted and the hoop "digs-in" to the racing surface. My car(s) have been
done this way and nobody in Tech had any comments. This change was added
after a guy rolled a lakester years ago at El Mirage and the top hoop(s) were
torn off. I believe that the car was a retired RED that had been converted to
LSR. The "A" frame front end restriction(s) might have come from this
accident also.
I can't address the "stitch" welding on one side question. Dan or Mike
