Hi Folks,
first Jack is all the time understatement - the HP which Jim told me was "just"
higher - also he used a little bit fuel when he set the 253.
What really surprised me was Mary's 245 on gas, wow, she got the exactly right
foot touch for the salt during this run - very sad that she blew the engine on
the return run.
Honestly, due to this that we (means the team #286) and Jack/Jim was real tough
competitors I have to write a small note.
I calculate for both racer a speed from 250+ if everything runs perfect.
We done a so final speed some years ago on fuel but due to rain there was no
chance to go for a proper attempt.
The II is a fantastic combination from a clean aerodynamic and the right
downforce to get the power on the salt. You can give Jack the same title which
was given to Art Arfons - genius of the junkyard - simple a natural technical
talent
Also Jim done something (which Jim and I often discussed) - he used a very long
gear which elminate the slipping wheels - so he keep the grip.
The II can come close to 300 when the 60ci will get a turbocharger, so as the
#286 if he would run with a blower.
Our #286 will have his last modification, what I call Evolution 2 Version, for
Bonneville 2002 - let us see how we can handle Mary and Jim's record.
For a save and successful 2002 season
See ya
