Bill:
the Republic F-105 Thunderchief fighter-bomber (aka "Thud") had an internal
bombay
originally designed to carry a nuclear bomb. Normally they carried a 390 gal
fuel tank
in there instead. Could be?
Seems like I also remember that Republic built one of the early models of Naval
cruise
missiles (before anyone was even calling them "cruise missiles"). Seems like
one of
those missiles (don't remember if it was a Republic) had an odd-shaped tank
like that on
it.
Part of Mom's family lived in the (greater metropolitan) Floydada area. I hope
you
weren't scaring one of my long-lost aunties!
