The Guam Bomb, #743 Studebaker was built heavy and weighed 3150 without
ballast. I had the opportunity the put the car on a four scale setup like the
stock car guys use. As a result I added 35# just aft of the right front wheel
to get the lateral balance even, which is important. The balance was
47%front/53%rear. After running the car the first year I put a 70# bar up
front just aft of the front wheels, 110# of lead shot in each frame rail,
and 95# in each weight box which in mounted just forward of the rear tires,
Total of 480# ballast for a total weight of 3630#. The car handled very good
at Bonneville on a good course. I did have trouble at El Mirage recently. Next
time I,ll add more ballast in the weight boxes. I don,t know the current
fwd./rear balance. I really need to weigh the car again, if I can get access
to some scales. Terry Hunt, Guam Bomb,#743
