I first met Joe and Jon Amo up front in the staging lanes at last
year's
Speedweek, and I soon noticed that they worked together in the manner that
brothers should ....... and that reminded me of my sons and how they worked
together on their various car projects over the years, most recently their
Black Radon Salt / lakes effort . This is not to say that they don' t have
some VERY divergent and heated, view points between themselves at times
( AND with their father ) ....... but when its down to the wire with the 22
and
23 hour workdays / nights ...... they pull together and make things happen,
in other words, teamwork . Like many on this list, I pulled too many of
those all nighters in the 50s and 60s, when it was an awful lot easier ......
somewhere between twelve and eighteen was about all they got from me
during the final button up, and fire up, in California, before we hauled up
I-80 thru Sacramento and over the scenic Sierra Nevada, toward that
vast white expanse of salt .......
I would guess those Amo boys have done that day into night into
day thrash themselves more than once ! I do know all four of those
young guys are pretty serious about this speed thing, whether on
two wheels or four ....... each one a distinct individual, but able to get
the job done with their sibling when necessary ........
I' m hoping that Jon may post the best of the three photos of them
and their bike in the starting area last August, on his Picture Post ......
now that I finally sent them ! Or some better ones he has .......
Bruce
( Jon, even if the helmet is not on your noggin ...... think
about taking your leathers along in the breeze ......)
