ARC Welding: Used to build bridges and ships

Mig Welding: Small Unit: Used to weld sheet Metal
Larger Unit: Used for thicker sheet metal

TIG Welding: Used to weld race cars, Space ships and things you want to
last!!!

Joking aside...penetration is what is important. One should make a
coupon( sample piece) and test it for complete penetration before
attempting to weld with some of the smaller machines. It may be YOUR
LIFE!!!! I use TIG for almost everything...but I know the limit. I have
had Nasa certs and welded space suit junk in past jobs. I was required
to weld many coupons for testing and I learned the value of testing the
penetration in various types of joints.

Mig welds are VERY hard and if not penetrated enough, they will snap on
impact of a crash. Too many welds are done with those 120 volt little
shit boxes everybody sells. ( I know many a race car has been built with
one!)

Another thing: Use the correct rod for the job. Mig wire is NOT for
heliacing! There is a difference.

just my option!!!
