And late model 5.0 mustangs are short , but never had a 9 inch . Only a 7.5
and an 8.8 inch rear-- completly different

 The 1957 thru 59 Ford Ranchero and Station Wagon and the 1965 & 1966
Mustangs have the narrowest production rearends. 57 1/4" across mounting
flanges. The 1965 & 1966 Mustangs are available in 8" and 9" while the 57-59
big Fords are 9" only. The 1966 thru 1977 Bronco is a 9" and is 58" wide.
