Regarding the ballast question. We too built several odd shaped metal
boxes and filled them with lead. This has proved to be a pain in the back as
far as taking the weights out. One of them is so big and heavy it takes
four people to get it in or out without a chain hoist. It is a miracle we
haven't squashed any fingers. A better setup would be two one inch tubes
welded to the chassis that stick up through the proposed weight. Cast the
weights in one inch thick plates that slip down over the tubes. Top with a
steel plate and bolts through the tube. Much easier on your body when doing
that between seasons teardown to remove all the Wendover locktite from the
chassis.
