Howdy,
anybody hear anything about the condition of the salt?
not that it may do me any good, I'm still waiting for the cylinder head
to
arrive from the shop. they did a race valve job that doesn't work in my
engine, intake valves catch the seat and stick open, kinda makes it hard to
light the mixture.....I hadn't seen this valve/seat grind, the valve is
seated on the edge of the valve, which opens the throat of the seat in the
cylinder head up, but in my engine, with the stock rocker arm arrangement,
the high lift cam creates a lot of side force against a short guide, and a
long arc of rocker movement, and if the seat is up on the edge of the
valve, there is no centering of the valve into the seat, which means the
edge catches the seat and leaks.
We thought that I had forgotten (or never knew) how to degree the cam,
due
to the symptoms, but Ron Iskiderian ??? (sorry about the spelling of your
last name Ron) of Isky Cams, talked me through the procedure, and the cause
of the trouble became obvious.
So I sit here with piles of stuff ready to load into the Pig, and no
engine for the racecar.....
