Another popular combination was a 4 1/8 stroker which was an offset
welded/ground factory crank that took the 59AB connecting rod bearings with a
3 7/16 bore.
######### Most engine builders didn't bother with welding to get the 4 1/8"
stroker with a Flatty. By taking the 2.137" dia 1949-53 Merc (4" stroke)
crank journal and offset grinding it to 2.000" the stroke became 4 1/8" and
1937-41 Ford 21-A / 91-A 2" journal rods could be used to get the stroke
without welding the crank.
