Hi Greg, Thanks for your knowledgeable input. I'm wondering --- was
there an
involvement of NSU in this ?? Was this a motorcycle engine powered car
by any chance ? The NSU name is somehow tied in to this vehicle --- or am
I mistaken ?? The TV program MIGHT have been " Year by Year " --- on the
History Channel.
I tape all of those, from the late 20s to the late 60s. That time frame
is fascinating to me, and on that show you can see the Indy 500 of each year,
and glimpses of auto shows, here and abroad, some good old time 50s stock car
footage, sometimes even the real pioneers like Cobb, Campbell, Jenkins, and
Lockhart ---
on the beach at Daytona, and at Bonneville . LOTS of views of the autos of
the day,
which are now the rodded or restored cars most of us love, " Year by --- "
also has a
great deal of bygone aircraft, military stuff, boat racing, and just gives
you a view of
life before we were around, as well as through our earlier days. Very
educational, in my opinion. If you can tell me what year Taruffi ( was
his first name Pierre --- or
Pietro --- or --- I can't recall ? ) ran that twintanker, I can scope it out
right away, Greg. Thanks for sending the photos, but my older 'puter
refuses to let me view, or
print out, pics sent by the " mime" setup, and even some that are " jpg "
won't print,
but can be viewed. I couldn't figure it out ( computer illiterate ) but a
teacher of same
showed me why. I got a great pic from " saltrat " Skip Higginbotham of his
lonnng
lakester --- which won't print, and several from my New England neighbor and
friend,
" bellytanker " John Linville --- which can't even be viewed, like yours.
Time for a Brand New 'puter ! --- only holdback : $$$ . Hope you can dial me
in on year --- I already spend too much time on line to be searchin' thru 10
years (10 hours on tape)
Tell us about the " twinboomer " you're building; some drivetrain details,
etc. Good
to know someone is building such a " time tunnel " piece !
