Wes, that's very interesting about Jerry Kugel's weight and balance
setup.  In light of Chuck Salmen's weight-jacking system to offset the
torque on a solid rear axle that tends to lift the left rear wheel,
assuming Jerry Kugel uses a solid axle, I wonder if he does anything on
this line.  With high torque motors it must be important, if the left
rear wheel only skims the salt one would think the heavily loaded right
wheel would tend to steer the car to the left, despite a locked rear
end.  I'm assuming he has a rear suspension; maybe he doesn't.  

On the other hand, I'm told that some of the superfast fuel roadsters
near 300 have no rear suspension, solid axle bolted to frame, locked
rear axles, and steer well.  In that case, the great torque of the
engine would be trying to lift the whole left side of the car, both at
the rear axle and at the motor mounts.  Maybe the large amount of
ballast they use ahead of the rear axle makes it work.  Regards,
