Since you all seem to be discussing why I would do something, I figure I'll
chime in. Why would I do such a thing as put the exhaust pipes out the side
of the front spoiler? Well, first off, building the down pipes were a LOT
simpler. That's number 1. Thrust is another consideration albeit small:
each exhause is flowing about 450 cfm at 1300 degrees F so the speed should
be prety high at the exit of the pipe. Thrust = mass x velocity. Small
maybe, helpful, maybe. Third is that the exhaust does not set up any kind
of barrier. And four is that the turbulence at the wheel well is pretty
high so it prolly doesn't matter anyway. Lots of turboed mustangs running
them the same way and making 160 - 180 in the quarter mile. Once it leaves
the pipe it basically is the same speed as the car, and since they point
backwards and upwards blends the exhaust with air flowing by. Unfortunately
it will add maybe 10 square inches to the frontal area with it's incumbent
drag losses.

And besides, it looks cool! When I get time, I'll post a pix on the web
site, maybe this week end.

mayf (holey air damn, and proud of it!!) :)
