FWIW, for at least one manufacturer of tires suitable for our cars 
shaving voids their tires' warranty, if that matters to anyone 
(returning tires probably isn't practical for most of us anyway).

My BN2 had horrendous scuttle shake until I got new wheels and tires, 
properly balanced, and now the shake is completely gone. No other 
'tricks' or mods required. I figure that will last until I hit the first 
bad pothole.
