Been about 6 years or so since the last go around on the =E2=80=9Chyphen=E2=
=80=9D question. Maybe not that long ago as I may have missed it. No defini=
tive answer then and doubt there is one now.
There was a perhaps slightly tongue in cheek answer back in 2014 which I st=
ill find a bit humorous=E2=80=A6but then I=E2=80=99m an old man looking for=
a hyphen in all the wrong places. Thanks Johnny Lee for the partial use of=
your lyrics.
>From the forum:
Re: Austin-Healey to Austin Healey
.
=E2=80=9CLike with so many other items, production went on even with tempor=
ary outages of inconsequential parts. For example, occasionally the union, =
Punctuation Fabricators & Parentheses Benders International, would go on st=
rike and BMC reserves would dry up, but they kept sending cars down the lin=
e, even without the hyphen.
So far the parts suppliers have neglected to make an acceptable reproductio=
n that will fit without an extraordinary degree of fiddling, and so good us=
ed originals remain in demand.=E2=80=9D
Thanks for that one Reid

And I still have a question to which no one seems to have a definitive=C2=
=A0answer: Why (not when) did "Austin-Healey"
become "Austin Healey"?=C2=A0=C2=A0
I've heard various theories including the one where the supplier made a mis=
take and the factory took them at a discount and changed the company name b=
ut that really makes little sense.
Does anyone really know the reason?

Just a small point. There was not an issue of old stock because cars like t=
he A70 Hereford and the A40 Somerset used them until they were phased out s=
