I did it last year (gearbox + OD). There are lots of helpful videos on
the 'net, esp. Magnus Karlsson's:

Plus, a lot of people on this list and various forums were helpful as
well. For the most part, there are no 'special tools' required (mostly,
just a selection of big hammers ;).
There are a few gotchas, if you endeavor to undertake this, I would be
glad to fill you in on what I learned (the hard ways ;)).
