Because there is a shiny finish on the inside of the bore and when you hone=
it, it takes that shine away. It may work for a short time but shortly aft=
erwards, the problems you had will be back and likely worse. New Brake and/=
or Clutch Master cylinders are really not expensive when you consider that =
they are a safety item, no point trying to save money in that area in my op=
inion.

Hi Price you don't mention whether the corrosion is in the bore or on the o=
utside.
Corrosion on the outside is usually as indication that there is a small lea=
k of brake fluid. On aluminum cylinders it produces a crusty white deposit=
which is usually easily cleaned off. The leak will be under the corrosion.
Corrosion in the bore is not so good but can often be corrected by rebuildi=
ng the cylinder.
NEVER hone aluminum cylinder bores ... the cylinder will be irreparably dam=
aged.
