'Interesting,' to say the least.  Tap water is electrically conductive
due to its dissolved salts (ions); distilled or deionized water has its
salts--hence its ions--removed so is non-conductive.  Ethylene glycol,
being an organic compound is not, to my knowledge, conductive.  The main
reason for using distilled water is to avoid scale buildup from the
dissolved salts (sometimes called 'boiler scale').

We covered aluminium alloys today in welding class.  There are many
types of alloys, some of which may not be suitable for radiators (some
alloys cannot be welded, and can only be mechanically attached; e.g.
riveted).
