Grappling with a rear road spring mystery and I'm ransacking sundry manuals and
the 'Net to find an answer.? Allow me to explain.? The front hanger brackets on
the rear chassis outriggers have welded-on tabs which presumably stop the bolts
turning when attaching a nut.? BUT............the BJ8 uses shackles with
captive splined shoulder-bolts, so the welded-on tabs are redundant.
Further confusion comes into play when one of the shackle pairs has two 1/2"
diameter bolts which are too big for the holes in the bracket on the chassis.?
However the other shackle has one 1/2" splined bolt and one 7/16" ditto which
fits the chassis bracket perfectly.?
I know which is theoretically correct, but does anyone else have an answer,
please?
