Hello
Plus you need to consider whether you are driving north or south of the equator.
Living south in the antipodes we get far better miles per gallon than you
blokes get as we are always driving downhill.

When checking gas mileage there is a lot of things to look at.
First of all is that odometer correct. I have an app on my phone that I use
to confirm speed and mileage.
Tire sizes will make a big effect on mileage.
Timing, mixture, worn carb needles, etc

Roger and David: I have a NEW MOSS tank for a BT7. Well about 1 year old so
shouldn't be clogged with dirt.
The mileage I get ( 14 - 15 MPG) is fairly steady. Folks keep saying I should
be getting 18 BUT I don't know how to do that. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.
When I remove the plugs they are a very light tan which I believe is correct
mixture. What else can one do??????

My car has a standard metal tank but like some of the replies can only get 49
litres (= 13 US gals into it) measured at a gas pump. Well I thought that it
was standard.
Maybe pumps are not correctly calibrated and getting free gas ... ha ha
Suspect that is an original manufacturing quality issue and that many people
could have this issue (smaller tanks) with their cars but not realize it as
they rarely run out or drain their tanks and simply ?fill up?
Any other ideas welcome

Are we talking about a new steel or aluminium tank, I have measured a new alloy
tank and a original steel tank and they are almost identical in size.
I have filled up the OE tank with about 14 gals of water. The poured that into
the new tank and the capacity of the new tank is actually a little larger.
