Hi Steve. My opinion only, firstly you can go on spending money forever getting more horsepower, a lot of which will only produce small gains. The biggest problem with the standard engine is lack of compression, so the one step big improvement is to fit semi dished pistons which brings the compression ratio up to around 9.5 to 1. Then a 100M camshaft and with no other modifications the engine will really come to life. From there on the gains will be much smaller and this is where you start pouring money in for small horsepower increases.
