Check the gasket under the sending unit. If it is cork, it may have
deteriorated or broken up.

I am parking my 57 Healey in our garage which is attached to our house.
There is a very strong smell of gas that clears up if I don't start the car
for 3 or 4 days. I have checked the gas tank and there is no leak or
excessive smell in the trunk. Any ideas where the smell might be coming from
and how to stop it.
