[Healeys] Brake adjuster question

When I was cleaning my brake adjusters I noticed a slight difference 
in he pistons. The machined slot around the circumference of the 
pistons is different; one is narrow and one is wider. It is the same 
way on the other brake adjuster too.

Anyone know why?
