Peter,
Check for marks on the driveshaft and hand brake cable. Torqueing the axle
moves the position of the diff pinion flange and can place the drive shaft
in a different place than when at rest. Also check for loose clips or cracks
in the leaf spring. You may have snapped a leaf.
