If you can't find a roller bearing I just wanted to mention that when I took my
engine out last year I replaced the throw-out bearing on my BN1, but also
compared the old to the new, the old one was barely worn, I don't remember the
exact difference but the wear on it was very slight, this is from memory and
may be way off, but I think that on the new one wearing surface was about .21"
higher than body, the old one was maybe .19" or 18" at the least, this was
after at 8 years of driving by me and who knows how long before o the old unit.
I know on some cars (Sprites and Midgets come to mind) the release bearing
wears out fairly quickly, but at least in my experience the thing are pretty
durable.
