I went the Isky way with my 100. It cost me $80 plus shipping. They had
several grinds to choose from and I picked the E99+4 whatever that means. It
has 260 degrees of duration (as opposed to 230 degrees standard) with 46
degrees of overlap. Valve lift is .425" (as opposed to .390" standard). The
engine starts, runs and idles nicely and is not lumpy. Of course it will put
the engine it was before in the dust, but it was pretty weak before so I
really don't have a way of comparing before and after. Also I think I need
to add some carburetion and will probably try to find a way to hang some H6s
and a set of headers on it in the future. Someone on the list said they had
trouble dealing with Isky and couldn't get timely service from them. My
experience was that Ron is the only one who deals with older cam grinds and
is sometimes out of pocket, but I was not in a hurry and when I did talk to
him he was very courteous and helpful. He explained to me the
characteristics of the various grinds and helped me decide. Once the
decision was made and the cam shipped to them the service was quite prompt.
I am very satisfied with the result. I'll let you know if I change my mind
after the carb and exhaust upgrades... in 10 or 15 years.
