| Or it could be that there is a lack of lubricant / grease on the taper  at 
the hub extension / wire wheel interface. That problem makes a wide range of  
sounds from ticks/clicks to grinding sounds. Suspect it depends on the amount 
of 
 play in the hub splines.

 have a subtle ticking sound coming from the right rear wheel of my  "67 BJ8. 
the frequency of sound increases with speed and disappears with minimal  use 
of the brake pedal. Didn't notice anything out of the ordinary in checking  
out the brake drum, pads, etc
Any  ideas?
