has failed.
If you lay the solenoid on a level surface and position the plunger about
1/4' from the fully in position the plunger should pull in with a snap when
the solenoid is energized. If the "pull" coil has failed it will probably
not pull in from that position.
Another way to check is to do a current flow check on the solenoid. With the
plunger removed the current flow should be substantially higher than it is
with the solenoid pressed all the way in.

What is the correct length of throw for the plunger in the overdrive
solenoid when the solenoid is energized? This information does not appear
in the archives that I could locate.
My solenoid plunger appears to be moving only about 1/32 of an inch when
energized. The plunger moves freely and will fall out of the sleeve when
the solenoid is removed from the overdrive unit.
