100-4 battery replacement

As you know a BN1 requires two six volt batteries wired  in series to create a
12-volt circuit. They must also be of a certain physical size. I have found
the physical size but in 12-volts entities. If I wire them in parallel, how
will that affect their overall performance practically? Thx for your
thoughts.
