I don't think it ever stops being an issue. certainly it is more
important during the first 500 - 1000 miles. Also true that "maybe"
less could be used after that time. it would depend on the cam loading
- ie valve spring pressure, cam profile, rpm used.
With a well worn in engine, I doubt that cam wear would be a major
issue. Guess it depends on what well worn in engine really means. If
it means just well broken in & has many good miles left, cam wear will
continue to be an issue. Why take chances?
