One benefit to using avgas is it contains lead. 100LL has 2 grams per gallon
of lead added to prevent detonation in aircraft engines. For Healey engines
the benefit from lead is that it provides lubrication for the valves (assuming
no conversion to "modern" valves, where it's not needed). It's a good way to
get some lead into the engine from time to time. I typically mix it 1/4
avgas to 3/4 mogas, which gives 0.5 grams per gallon, which is about what the
old
auto leaded gas ("ethyl" gas for those old enough to remember) contained. But
it's not a big deal as to the mix - the only disadvantages to running pure
avgas in a Healey engine is it costs more and the lead will foul the plugs over
time it it's not diluted. 100LL is sold at all airports that sell fuel - it's
the standard now for piston aircraft engines.
