I , like Steve, removed the old varnish mechanically with a flat sharp pallette knife that would get under the original layer. It IS very time consuming, and tedious, and you have to take a lot of care, but the stuff seems impervious to any strippers. The worse the condition of the dash, the easier the varnish is to remove, because you'll have more cracks to lever under. You also have to be careful with any sanding......the veneer is extemely thin! Stephen, BJ8 |
