You definitely do not want to have your old shock absorbers working if you
install tube shocks... this would make your car ride like a brick.
To stop your old shock absorbers from damping, simply remove the valve on
the front of the housing and remove the spring and valve in there, then
screw it back on and fill the shock back up with oil. You have to stop the
old shock from damping this way... you don't want to simply drain the
oil because the shock can break and fall apart over time if you do that.
