Group,
I'm fitting a trunk handle and lock to a BJ8 restoration. The old one was
trash so I went to the parts bin and found four others in various states of
"niceness". Choosing the best, I have disassenbled it and taken a tumbler from
another "parts bin handle". I have reworked the tumbler so that the ignition
key will work the mechanism. (By the way, is it correct that the ignition key
for a BJ8 works the boot lock? That was the case on the BJ8 I looked at but my
BJ7 has a different key for the ignition and boot lock. If the ignition and
boot use the same key, how about the doors and glove box? Back to my boot
lock. Now I have a nice handle and a working tumbler, but when I put them
together the tumbler sits too deep in the handle bezzel. I've looked at a
total of
six handles now and they all have a very shallow depth for the lip of the
bezzel. The one I'm working on is deeper so the tumbler will be indented into
the handle. Which handle is correct for a BJ8?
TIA
Bob
