I can confirm that it was the Pertronix. They phoned just now. (Pretty quick
as I only posted it off at 16:00 last night).
Fried from within.
Have ordered a negative earth "module only" kit. Will install when have
correct diode(?) for SU fuel pump fitted.
Fortunately have one of the old Radiomobiles that can switch polarity, not
that you can hear it with engine on, but at least I can have it converted to
FM or digital or whatever now?
Once again, thank you for all the help.
Conclusion:- the last thing I suspected was the culprit.
