I thoroughly enjoyed reading the account of their experience of attending
their first Conclave.
I would however like to point out the fact that to the novices on the list,
it paints a pretty scary picture of Healey undependability and hardship.
I saw this car in the judging and spoke to Ron Ray while there. He's a
terrific fellow who despite all obstacles, came through like a real trooper.
The "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey would say was that the car hadn't a
chance to be properly broken in and cured of all the normal post
restoaration anomolies that will always crop up. Having met Ron, I think I
can say with all confidence that he's the sort of guy who will tackle and
solve each of these things, resulting in a terrific and totally trustworthy
car that Healeys can and should be allowed to be.
Hopefully Ron and Susan will drive their Healey to Vermont next year, with
no more talk of trailers and "dependable tow vehicles".
