I had this from English springs from Cape--so the good springs must be all
coming from the same place.
This topic came up only a couple of weeks ago.
1/8" aluminum worked fine as a shim underneath the top of the front spring
band. You could make a piece with a pre-bent tab on one side and a tab on
the other side, then use a c-clamp to hold the leaves together tightly, then
slip the shim in, then fold the flat tab up to keep it in place. On
releasing the c-clamp, all should be non-rattly.
Also there's enough room in the center bands to add another leaf off the old
spring--the 19.5" one.
