As with most Austin Healey meets, as the week progresses, more time is spent
in people events, getting together impromptu to discuss cars, friends and
life in general than on actual Healey stuff. Some folks are making ready for
their return trips home. Several are planning extended touring to other parts
of
the Northwest. At any rate it was another fine day in Nelson.
The late morning and early afternoon was spent with about 30 cars taking the
short tour of the area with a two way ferry ride across the lake. If your
not aware, Nelson is a relatively old town founded in the late 1800s. Very
interesting architecture and an eclectic group of citizens that number about
10,000 souls. Several dams used for hydro power down river of Nelson have
formed a very, very long reservoir (lake). Water here is cold and deep. The
tour
allowed for adequate shopping (hunting for the men) and a cool drink (not in
the lake).
Several others took longer group and individual tours including a glacier
area, ghost town and other interesting sites.
The evening activities was pub night at a local drive in type establishment
and dinner at one of the many restaurants in town. The evening cooled off as
the sunlight faded at about 9:20PM.
Very pleasant indeed....
Aloha
