I replaced the flex line on a fellow BJ8 owner's car in the parking lot of
the hotel at a car show a couple years ago, and did it from below, lying on
my back on the pavement. The car was jacked up on the driver's side and we
had something under the wheels as a safety measure. I don't think it's
possible to replace the line from above unless you have universal joints in
your arms. The owner of this car was quite a bit larger than I am, so I fit
underneath better than he. I won't say it was easy, but it was possible.

Again, some advice is needed regarding replacing the flexible oil line from
the engine block to the capillary tube of the oil pressure gauge. Access to
the connection from the braided oil line to the capillary tube is the
problem.
The manifolds block access from the top and the degree of difficulty in
reaching with two spanners from under the car is not much better when using
ramps and supports.
Is this usually done from under the car but only using a car lift so you can
stand under the car and reach up, or is it permissible to undo the line
connection at the engine and gently bend the capillary tube upwards to clear
the manifolds and gain sufficient clearance to get the spanners onto the
connection from above.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
