Frank,
Before U start pulling things apart do a couple of tests.
Check the voltage between the starter power terminal and the frame of the
car while the starter is trying to start. It should be at least 10VDC
If the starter is jammed put the car in 4th gear and rock it back and forth,
that will release the starter which U will probably hear click out of
engagement.
Your problem could be a s simple as a poor battery terminal connction.
Another trick is to check for voltage between the engine and the frame while
the starter is trying to crank. If there is voltage there the engine ground
is bad.
5 minutes of diagnosis can save hours of work!!

Hi,
I just went to put my Healey on the road yesterday got the plates. I've
started it up fine three days in a row and all winter long now I put the
plates n and go to start it and turns over a few times then noting but
clicks from the starter I thinks it is stuck in the flywheel does anyone
know how to get this undone without taking out the starter.
