as tom and ray will say, it is now time to "stump the chump". a few weeks
ago, i adjusted the valves on a bj8. no click and no clack. a new
distributor cap and wires were added last week. the owner tells there is a
tick in the engine again. today i adjusteds the valves at least three times
and could not get rid of the tick, which sounded just like a spark knock. we
turned off the lights but could not see any spark jumping. the ticking sounded
like it was coming from the area of cylinder 3 or 4 or the distributor. the
tick would stop instantly when the igniton was turned off, but the valve train
would continue moving for a few seconds as the engine came to a stop.
deductive reasoning tells me it has to be something in the ignition system,
but right now i am cluless. any help would be appreciated. thanks in
advance. healeymanjim
