Ned,
I have had my Healey since 1994 and I regularly drive it to work in good
weather. I have only had it towed once (bad rotor). It was just luck that
the car was in front of the house when I broke a ring on the #3 piston
otherwise I would have had it towed a second time.
Some years ago, based on my experience trying to do roadside repairs to my
10 year old VW bus, I made a rule for myself that I would not carry tools or
spare parts. I bend this rule slightly by carrying an extra distributor cap
and rotor and an extra inner tube.

Subject: Does Anybody's Healey Run Well All or Most of the Time
Most of the stories I hear about trips in Healeys run like this: "I was no
my way to XXX and the car broke down". Rarely do I see, "I drive it all the
time and I hardly ever have a problem." This is might be because breakdown
stories are more interesting than nothing happened stories.
So which is it?
A few days ago my engine stopped because the ignition condenser failed. In
all my years of driving, this has never happened to me before. Was this an
isolated incident or should I expect these odd occurrences on a regular
basis?
Your comments are appreciated,
