If you look closely "Gunnie Ermey" has a cameo appearance as a helicopter
pilot in the movie "Apocalypse Now". He is one of the pilots talking to "Big
Duke" when they go in to secure the village at the mouth of the Nung River,
so the mission to find Kurtz can continue and Captain Kilgore can surf.
As a side note Apocalypse Now was the film version of Joseph Conrads book
"Heart of Darkness". Hollywood tried to make this book into a movie for many
decades. Orson Wells initially started out making a film about "heart of
Darkness", and ended up scrapping it mid way and converting the budget into
"Citizen Kane".
