Sorry Tom,
I disagree. In this case the problem was started from incomplete
information, not from posting a business name.

I've never had work done at HS, but I've had healeys for the past 30 years
and are very familiar with their reputation and good work. I simply
couldn't believe they would have done the work described in the post. It
was obvious to me that some PO had done the work or some shade tree garage.
If someone actually paid to have the described work accomplished I certainly
would want to know who to avoid.

IMO if someone did run across a business who did improper work I'd like to
hear about it - as well as those who do great jobs. The same is true
concerning parts suppliers. I know all of the big three have taken hits as
well as kudos on this list as well as the triumph and mg lists (I have all
three), but the good survive and the not so good don't. I'm convinced that
poor feedback from this list has improved service from more than one
company, and good feedback has increased business for many.

I don't believe that any damage was done to the HS reputation, but an
apology is appropriate.

The key is having correct information and keeping a cool head, not watering
down the list to protect the innocent or guilty.

My $.02
Pete

Not to sound too preachy, but this is one great reason why we should not
list names on this open list. One--the company listed doesn't have a
chance to defend itself before their name is bounced around among a lot of
Healey owners---some damage done already. Two--one of us just may have an
axe to grind and take it out on the company this way--when in fact, it was
only us who had the problem.

Any lawyers here-------? Seems to me the list may have the possibllity of
getting a slander suit.

My vote----OK to slam someone but do it off line if someone asks for it.

Regards
Tom
