I think it depends on the year of your car. My 61BN7 did not have spacers
when I removed the original heat shields. They had not been off the car
since leaving the factory. I did get some replies to my inquire and it
seems that some models later in production did use the square spacers that
were supplied with the Moss kit I purchased.
