John... You will only typically get vapor lock if fuel vaporises
before the fuel pump, not after... so the problem isn't in your engine
compartment.

I think BN1s and BN2s originally came with a rubber covering for the
fuel pump to reduce the symptoms of vapor lock (this is the problem
area... it's not in the float bowls).

The best solution (which I've done on my BN1) is to get some header
wrap (cheap stuff) and wrap it around the entire exhaust pipe section
underneath the fuel pump.  since I've done this I haven't had a
problem, plus it significanlty helps reduce the heat generation in
this area anyway.
