Hey Dean. Glad to hear you are pleased with the Supra box. I understand the ratios on those boxes are quite close together. The box from a pick-up has wider spacings. My question - does the torque of a 3litre Healey suit wide ratios, or is it better to go for a higher first gear and closer ratios? I wonder (out loud) what MikeS chose for AHX12 and why? Cheers guys......AlanB _______________________________________________ (______________ Alan Bromfield _______________) (______ \____1957-BN4 ___/ _______) (_________1965-BJ8________) http://www.nfahc.co.uk mailto:alan@nfahc.co.uk -----Original Message----- From: owner-healeys@autox.team.net [mailto:owner-healeys@autox.team.net] On Behalf Of Dean Caccavo Sent: 27 March 2005 06:31 To: KingR44916@aol.com; healeys@autox.team.net Subject: Re: 3000 trans I'll try. For me there were four reasons that I switched to the Supra 5 speed. 1 - A non-overdrive BN7 turns too many revs at today's freeway speeds 2 - Putting a complete overdrive system in a non-overdrive car was too expensive 3 - My wife wanted to drive the Healey on sunny California days (and she hated the orig trans) 4 - Smitty was only a 1/2 mile from home. Thank you Smitty - Dean BN7 |
