Just to add to what Gary said:
Morris Green paint first appeared with the introduction of the six port head in
Nov 1957, nobody knows why.
All engines were painted at Coventry before being shipped to both Longbridge
and Abingdon.
Lister John Soderling owns car #49069 built at Longbridge in Nov 1957, it has a
Morris Green engine.
My car #56053, built in Abingdon in Jan 1958 also has a Morris Green engine.
Car #58563 (unrestored) built Mar 6 1958 has a normal metallic green engine.
The Morris Green paint was therefore quite short lived and disappeared between
mid Jan and early March 1958 even though production of BN4s carried on until
April 1958 before production switched to BN6s.
These BN4s are the 'transition' cars. They have the six port head but they have
the old "Longbridge" interior even though nearly all of them were built at
Abingdon. As mentioned above, not all of these cars had Morris Green engines.
cheers
