Hi Ron,
It's been my experience that the exterior door handles for the BN7 (flat
pull type) are usually not bad but often will not close fully flat as the
originals. This is usually due to a bit of raised casting material
interfering with the full closing of the handle casting to the base casting.
It can be carefully filed away. It's a surface not seen when the handle is
at rest and would only show the filed area when the lever is pulled out.
It's a very small area and certainly won't be noticed by anybody but you
(and I won't tell anybody).
As for the door strikers, I have personally seen no problems with the
replacements. My own personal wish is that someone would tool up and make
the early narrow rectangular striker base plate for the earliest Hundreds,
but I realize that would be only a small market.
Anyone out there who would be able to do a few dozen pieces? I can provide
originals as samples.
As for the trunk hinges, there are cheaper ones that have the hinge pin
going in one side only, but not passing all the way through, leaving the
other sideof the base casting blind. These are not correct. The originals
had the splined hinge pin passing right through the casting. These are
readily available but at twice the price of the incorrect ones. Go figure.
The only other problem I've encountered with trunk hinges is that I've had a
couple where the threaded stud was installed a bit too deep, causing a lump
to start protruding into the upper surface. If you encounter one with a
loose mounting stud, be careful how far you tighten it.
