Jim,
If all suspension parts are in good working order the following two problems
contribute most to scuttle shake (it almost always occurs between 55 and
65mph):
1) wheels being even the slightest bit out of true
2) brake rotors being unbalanced (they almost always are, from the factory)
Mostly, the wheels have to be absolutely perfectly true and balanced. Some have
found relief with non-wire wheels; e.g. repro MiniLites. You can also weld a
brace
where the transmission tunnel meets the firewall.
